History of Softball
The game of softball was first invented by George Hancock of the United States in 1887, and was first played in the state of Chicago in 1933.
Softball equipment and playing fields
Equipment
Softball game equipment as follows.
- Softball made of white leather weighing 190 grams, diameter -/+ 30 cm.
- Stick to hit made of wood 40 cm long.
- Glove (large gloves made of leather).
- The pitcher plate is the place where the pitcher steps on (the ball bouncer).
- Masks, leg protectors, and body protectors for the catcher's body armor.
- Base is a place where runners perch (runners).
- Uniform and cap (costume and helmet) for the hitter/runner.

Field
The softball playing field is rectangular in shape with 16.76 m long sides. The distance from pitcher plate to home base is 13.07 m.
The size of the pitcher plate holder is 60 × 15 cm. The playing field is equipped with 4 bases or home plates.
Home plates I, II, and III are in the corner of the field. The home plate IV is the place to hit the ball.
Base measures 38 × 38 cm with a thickness of 5 to 12.5 cm. The home base IV or home plate measures 43 × 22 cm.
