The richest man

Since the beginning of this year, Musk has won the title of the world's richest man, which has been held by Jeff Bezos since 2017. This success is mainly due to the stock of Tesla and other Musk companies stock that have skyrocketed in the past year. At the beginning of 2020, Musk's wealth was only around USD 27 billion, or the equivalent of Rp. 378 trillion, not even on the list of the 50 richest people in the world.

Then in July last year, his fortune swelled and managed to overtake Warren Buffett as the 7th richest person in the world. After that, it only took four months for Musk to seize the position of Bill Gates as the world's second richest man in November.

Covid-19, Amazon skyrocketed

A similar trend happened to Bezos first. Stock Amazon has entered its heyday in recent years, making this billionaire the title of the first person in history to have a wealth of more than USD 150 billion or the equivalent of Rp.2,100 trillion in 2018.

When many world tycoons have suffered losses due to sluggish business being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, the story is different from Amazon stock. The Amazon stock is actually skyrocketing at the same time as the business is getting bigger. As a result, the Forbes report for August 2020 stated that Jeff Bezos was the first person to touch a wealth of more than USD 200 billion or equivalent to IDR 2,800 trillion.
