Xebec pirate history
Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, Shiki, and several other legendary names turned out to be the crew of the Rocks D. Xebec pirate group. Xebec is also considered as one of the biggest rivals of Gol D. Roger. It took the cooperation of two strong people, Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp, to be able to defeat Xebec and make his entire crew finally disband and disperse.
According to Sengoku, the crew of the Rocks pirates were brutal and notorious for their violence. They also don't differentiate between friends and foes, they all look the same so they don't hesitate to kill their own comrades. He is the most ruthless pirate in the ocean. So terrible, his name was erased from history so not many people know about this pirate group.
Theory about Shanks being the son of Rocks
However, behind the cruelty of Rocks appears a theory which states that he has a child who is still alive today. The figure who is thought to be the son of Rocks D. Xebec is Shanks the redhead. Various trials have been put forward to support this theory or prediction, one of which is about the God Valley event.

Shanks is Roger's crew
After the fight between Roger and Whitebeard, Marco himself told Blackbeard that Shanks and Buggy had been part of Roger's crew for many years (at that time they were supposedly 13 years old). Then in chapter 966, in one of the panels we see how Roger holds the newborn Hiyori.

| In the panel we also see how Rayleigh holds Momonosuke. Based on this we can conclude that Roger and Rayleigh once raised a small child together aboard the Oro Jackson. And one thing that's interesting is that in the translation of what Roger said to Hiyori, he said that "it's been a long time since I've seen/raised/carried a baby." |
Is the baby Shanks?
Talking about the panel, one of the fans asked Oda Sensei about it in the SBS Vol. 99 yesterday. The fan asked about the baby figure that was on the Oro Jackson ship. After all, there was no other woman on the ship besides Kozuki Toki.
However, Oda Himself seemed awkward and unable to answer the question. Does that mean Oda made a mistake? Or is Oda hiding something? The answer from Oda Sensei seemed to strengthen the notion that Shanks might be a baby figure who had been on the Oro Jackson ship.
Shanks' straw hat
Maybe this is the reason why Roger gave his straw hat to Shanks, because he considered Shanks like his own son. He had high hopes for Shanks. And it was because of this that Shanks then set sail, allegedly looking for another figure who could be the successor to Roger's determination - until he found Luffy.
Of course it would be very interesting if then the theory that Shanks was the son of Rocks who was later cared for and raised by Roger.
