It is the preferred way that the organization wants the work to be done. It is known as preferred logic or soft logic. These type of dependencies are easy to change when needed. E.g. fast tracking. During fasttracking, these discretionary dependencies can be modified or removed.
Mandatory dependency:
They are required by the nature of work.eg: contract. All the terms in the contract must be satisfied to fulfill the contract. It is called as hard logic.
