In episode 7 of the Sweet Tooth series, it began to be revealed who Gus really was. The fans who have followed the story of this series from the beginning will also think that Birdie and Pubba are Gus's mother and father. But it turned out to be all wrong.

Gus is a genetically modified baby with the code name G.U.S 1 or if translated means Genetic Unit Series 1 which Birdie created through research on microbes that he found on the Alaskan ice polar expedition. At the beginning of this episode, a group of researchers from Fort Smith embarked on an expedition to the polar ice caps of Alaska.

The team took ice samples from the depths for research. From the chunks of ice samples, it can be seen that some microbes can still live in the extreme weather of the polar regions.

The ice samples were then packaged and transported to the Fort Smith laboratory for further investigation. In Fort Smith's own lab, Birdie is in charge of the research.

Pubba meets Birdie

Pubba or whose real name is Richard Fox is one of the cleaners at Fort Smith. Pubba's day-to-day is the same as general office cleaners, such as mopping floors, cleaning glass etc.

As a janitor, Pubba had access to nearly every room in the Fort Smith lab. Until one day, he saw some experiments on chicken eggs and also on adult chickens. Not really understanding what the researchers were doing, Pubba tried to ignore it and continued his daily task of cleaning the entire Fort Smith lab.

The next day at Fort Smith, Pubba saw a commotion in the lab where in one lab there was an argument about what to do and what not to do, causing the person in charge of the lab to be transferred to another division.

The person in charge of the mutated lab is Birdie. Disappointed because he was dismissed from the research he had been developing, Birdie finally let go of his tiredness to a bar in the city.

It was at Sal's Bar that Birdie and Pubba met and became acquainted. Pubba apologized for seeing what happened this afternoon in the lab when Birdie had to be evicted and transferred to another division at Fort Smith.

Pubba was also curious about Birdie's research using chicken eggs and adult hens in his lab experiments. Birdie also explained that during an expedition to Alaska, his team found microbes capable of living in chunks of ice.

These microbes are what they inject into the eggs of chickens and adult chickens and are generally in the form of viruses to create vaccines. If the vaccine is successfully created, then all diseases can be cured by the vaccine. But if it fails there will be chaos regarding a new disease that threatens the whole world.

As night fell, Pubba drove Birdie home and stopped by for a glass of Birdie's hot chocolate. That's when Birdie's house phone rang with the news that military forces were in Fort Smith's lab and were trying to confiscate all of Birdie's research.

Birdie invited Pubba to return to the lab right then and there. Because Birdie had to do one of her important research and Pubba just so happened to have access to the whole room.

Arriving at the Fort Smith lab, military forces have entered the lab and confiscated various kinds of research in the lab. Birdie and Pubba managed to get into one of the research rooms where he had hidden his important research.

Pubba was surprised to see the research that Birdie was hiding, a tiny baby with animal horns and ears. Birdie explained that the baby was genetically engineered from a microbe he had found in Alaska and was given the name genetic unit series 1 or GUS for short.

Birdie begs Pubba to help her get the baby away as far as possible so the military doesn't find her. Because Birdie is worried that if the baby is found by the military, the baby will not survive because it will be used as research material to be studied and researched.

Birdie also promised that once this matter was over, she would look for Pubba and Gus' whereabouts. Pubba who agreed to this finally took the baby Gus to go deep into the forest.

Gus arrived at his mother's house

Bigman, Bear and Gus finally arrived at the town where Gus' mother lived. Coincidentally, the three of them took a short break while eating chocolate in front of Sal's bar where Birdie and Pubba had met in the past which was now covered in grass.

Bear and Big Man are talking and making plans so Gus won't be disappointed when the worst thing happens is if his mother is gone, considering that the city has long since died (without inhabitants). But a miracle happened, Gus who saw the city using binoculars saw a chimney rising from a house.

Gus rushed to the house and took Bear and Big Man along. While in front of the house, Gus, who has a keen sense of smell, told Big Man that there was only one person in the house.

Gus, who shouted for his mother from the front door, was chased away by a voice from inside the house. A little disappointed, Gus asked if that person wasn't Birdie, his mother?

Hearing the name Birdie mentioned by Gus, the owner of the house opened the door and a woman appeared with an amazed face looking at Gus. The woman also said "Gus...! You're still alive?". The woman also tried to touch Gus' horn.

The woman turns out to be Judy, Birdie's co-worker. Judy recounts that she was trying to save some research documents she had developed with Birdie when the military (now renamed "the last man" hunting squad) attempted to retrieve them.

When Judy is injured, Birdie takes care of her in the house. But about 10 years ago, Birdie left the house looking for Gus and Richard Fox (Pubba) and didn't come back until now.

Judy also gave a key to Gus. Judy said the key was the attic key in this house. Where in the attic is stored about the research he developed with Birdie.

Big man and Bear, who feel awkward with Fort Smith where Birdie, Juddy and Pubba work, finally decide to follow Gus into the attic room. Bear and Bigman felt strange because they had both heard rumors that the H5G9 virus outbreak originated in Fort Smith where Gus's father and mother worked.

It turned out to be true, in the attic Bear found files on the series 1 genetic unit (G.U.S.1) developed by researchers including Birdie. Gus, who finally found out that Birdie and Pubba were not his biological father and mother, was disappointed. Gus ran out of the house into the forest crying, while Big man tried to chase Gus to calm him down.
